Photography has been an interest of mine since 1971 when I bought my first 35mm SLR camera body and began adding lenses as a limited budget permitted. In 1973, while a student-athlete at Florida State University, I joined the staff of the university's daily newspaper (The Florida Flambeau) as a photographer. My primary responsibilities included photographing the various FSU athletic events, developing the film immediately thereafter, and providing editors with prints suitable for publication. In addition, I undertook various assignments for art shots to be used in conjunction with stories that were to run in the paper. Long after graduating from Florida State, some of my photographs still hang on the walls of FSU's University Center.
Upon entering law school in 1975, I continued to work for The Florida Flambeau as time permitted, freelanced for the local newspaper, and engaged in other aspects of photography as a part time profession. I entered some of my work in various photo contests and my images earned a variety of awards. In 2005, I returned to professional photography and shortly thereafter, my photographs of Ferrari's 2006 599 GTB automobile were published nationally and internationally by Car and Driver and a host of automotive web sites. In early 2007, I entered one of my photos in the annual National Wildlife Refuge photography contest (Egret on the Hunt), which competed against over 2,200 images and was selected as a Semi-Finalist.

In 2005, I joined the photo staff of the Florida State University Athletic Department to shoot sporting events on behalf of the university. I continue to photograph virtually all sports for FSU, including football, basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, golf, track & field, softball, volleyball and swimming. In 2008, I became one of two Featured Photographers for Unconquered Magazine, the Seminole Boosters publication, and I became a stringer for the Associated Press. I have also served as a photographer for the 2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009 Tavistock Cup, the 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 USTA Challenger Pro Tennis Tournament (TLH), and have photographed the action at NFL games, Wimbledon, U.S. Open (tennis), Masters (golf) and Tour de Georgia (cycling). My photographs have been and are regularly published on the Florida State University Athletics web site and on a number of other web sites including ESPN.com and The Sporting News. My images have also been featured on Comcast's Top Photos of the Week. As for print media, my images can be found in most Media Guides published by Florida State as well as other NCAA universities, Unconquered Magazine, many of FSU's marketing materials, and various magazines, newspapers and publications.

In February of 2008, my collage depicting three images of Jack Nicklaus was selected as the winner of the Nicklaus.com Photo Contest. More recently, ESPN.com continues to publish my photos (e.g. below - Buster Posey, NCAA College Baseball's Player of the Year), and countless web sites/print media have picked up my photos from the AP's wire service as I upload after assignments.

In October of 2008, I entered an image in the annual Photofest 2008, a juried photography competition. Out of almost 200 entries, 37 were selected by the judges for exhibition and my image received an award. In 2009, I entered two images in another contest, this one unlimited in terms of artistic media. Both images were selected from hundreds of entries for gallery exhibition. In August of 2009, a collection of my images (Images from the Western United States) was selected as the top rated submission for a one man exhibition at the Artport Gallery in 2010, the Council on Culture and Arts' premier gallery.
Because of my past and current experience as a staff and freelance photographer for daily newspapers, I am very familiar with the demands of photojournalism and the creation of images which are desirable for publication under deadline constraints. I am equally comfortable in the world of digital or film photography in terms of image creation and the processing of images in Photoshop or the darkroom. I am available for photographic assignment from recognized media sources and welcome the opportunity to cultivate relationships with media outlets that will enhance my opportunities to engage in sports and outdoor photography.
